Temperatures are dropping and time is running out on readying your home for the holidays and finding the perfect gift for the sewists on your list. We gathered some great ideas for holiday decor and high-impact gifts, and included a really exciting class and club, both of which would make great presents for sewists and quilters. If you are the sewist in your life, definitely forward these ideas to your family so you get exactly what you want this year!
First up, holiday decorations.
Holiday Decorations
Plaited Wreath
This Plaited Wreath from Just Jude Designs is quick, easy, and doesn’t use much fabric. This would also make a fabulous gift if you’re visiting family or friends this season. We’re all for the smell of balsam fir, but nothing beats a wreath you can use year after year. We have a huge selection of holiday fabrics perfect for this project here.

Farmhouse Stocking
Want to make something that offers the opportunity to include some sprigs of evergreen for that perfect pine scent? Baby Lock’s Farmhouse Stocking has you covered. The stocking is quilted and sewn and then attached to a piece of wood board, and it has a pocket fit for sprigs of evergreen.

Christmas Stocking
We love this cute patchwork Christmas Stocking from Bernina because it uses lots of small squares and rectangles of fabric. You can, of course, shop our holiday fabrics to design your patchwork, but you could also dive into your scraps for a more hodgepodge look.

Free-Motion Quilted Menorah
This Free-Motion Quilted Menorah from Bernina has so many different applications. Add it to napkins, placemats, or a table runner, or put it on a plain apron as a gift for a family member. Bernina’s instructions walk you step by step through stitching the menorah, with both text and video instructions.

Hanukkah Star of David Shaped Candle Box
Bernina’s Hanukkah Star of David Shaped Candle Box is a fabulous addition to your holiday decorations—both useful and beautiful at the same time. This decoration would also make a great gift for a special child this season. Instead of candles, fill it with crayons and include a fun coloring book!

Gift Ideas
Kona Bundles
Robert Kauffman’s Kona Quilting Cotton is a perennial favorite among sewists and it’s not hard to see why. There are so many wonderful colors to choose from—we have approximately 200 colors in stock here.
We created these Kona Cotton Bundles to make it really easy to sew gorgeous, prismatic projects. These bundles are great gifts—a quick and inexpensive way to pad out a cherished sewist’s fabric stash, especially if your gift recipient has a favorite color! They are (from left to right, top to bottom): Fab Neutral, Dreamsicle, Sew Pink, Stained Glass, Crystal Cluster, Summer Citrus, Violet, and Summer Blues. The Stained Glass Kona Bundle also comes with a free pattern for a quilt!

Kona Calendar
This is an easy, no-brainer gift idea for anyone in your life who loves colorful quilts. It isn’t just a beautiful calendar—there are also 12 free patterns, one for each month!
Aurifil Color Builders Thread Club
This is one of those “I love you a whole lot” gifts. This is when we remind you that this list isn’t just for other sewists—it’s for you, too. If someone in your life is wondering what to get you, forward them a link to this blog!
The Aurifil Color Builders Subscription Thread Club launches in January 2022 and we are so excited about it. A capsule collection in celebration of Aurifil’s variegated threads, each month subscribers will receive 3 large spools of 50 wt thread—2 variegated and 1 complementary solid. Subscribers will also receive a free, exclusive appliqué BOM pattern featuring a flower of the rainforest. That’s 12 floral BOMs and 36 spools of thread—quite the gift!

Alchemist Crystals Event
Once again, this is one of those gifts you might want to forward to your spouse with a wink wink emoji. Next year we’re hosting an Alchemist Crystals Event with certified instructor Jodie Madison, who has twelve years of experience teaching Judy Niemeyer’s method for paper piecing. The event runs from June 15-18 from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm, and includes lunch and lots of communal fun. Attendees will learn how to complete a lone star and techniques for sewing curves, among other useful paper piecing techniques.
Reserve your spot in the class here, and grab an Alchemist Crystals kit here.
Twelve Days of Christmas
Starting on December 1 and running for 12 days, we’ll be sending out an email with different fun fabric bundles and gifts every day at 5:00 am. Once these one-offs are gone—that’s it, they’re gone.
