It’s one of our favorite times of the year—fall crafting season! Whether you love Halloween or Thanksgiving, or just love all things pumpkin spiced, Thimbles has lots of quilt kits and free project ideas to inspire you this fall. With this post, plus last year’s MORE Fall Projects to Quilt & Sew and the previous year’s Fall Projects to Quilt & Sew, we now have more than 20 FREE projects to spark your fall quilting and sewing.

As always, remember to browse our Halloween and Fall fabric collections to get the supplies you need to make any of the free projects below!

But before we get to that, we want to share some of our latest Halloween, Thanksgiving, and autumn-inspired kits to make it even easier to complete something fun this season.

Autumn Quilt Kits

Luminescent Batik Quilt kit side by side with A Year of Art Autumn Table Runner Quilt Kit

Do you love the shift to autumn captured in the color of the changing leaves? The Luminescent Batik kit (above left) includes the pattern and fabric for the top and binding of the Luminescent Quilt. The batik fabrics capture that shift to fall in the transitioning colors of the sawtooth stars. The Year of Art Autumn Table Runner (above right) offers a similar feel, with a kit that includes the pattern and fabric for the front, back, and binding.

I love Fall Night Sky Quilt kit featuring pumpkins and crows in dark and soft teals and oranges

The I Love Fall - Night Sky Kit includes the pattern and fabric for the top and binding. The quilt measures 42” x 50”: and features pumpkins and crows in elegant shades of orange, teal, and soft blue astride a gorgeous central panel.

The Glow-o-Ween FQ Bundle (top left) includes 5 fat quarters—remember it when you’re considering the free projects below. The Halloween Bones Yoga Mat Tote Bag (bottom left)has the fabric, pattern, webbing and stabilizer to make a yoga mat tote bag in spooky skeleton and spider web fabrics. Finally, we still have ONE Halloween-themed Timeshare kit from this year’s Brown Bag Mystery! This was one of Tammy’s favorite kits and we don’t think it will be around much longer…it will haunt you once it’s gone!

The Spellbound Quilt Kit (above) includes fabrics from the Storybook Fabric Halloween Collection from Spirit Fabrics to make the quilt top and binding of the Spellbound Quilt. The pattern to make the 75”x75” quilt is also included. Plus, there’s enough fabric to make a coordinating throw pillow!

Two Haunted Blackbird Quilt Kits, one featuring a center panel with flying witch above trick or treaters and one featuring a crow

The Haunted Blackbird Quilt Kits include the pattern and fabric for the top and binding to create quilts measuring 66” x66”. The center panel motifs include a witch (above left) and a crow (above right). Each quilt features simple but striking blocks around the center motif.

Thanksgiving Quilt Kits

The Golden Turkey Columbia Road Kit includes all the fabric for the top, backing, and binding to make the Columbia Road table runner in autumnal colors with a central turkey motif. Baby Lock’s Fall Leaves Wall Quilt turns a keen eye on your fabric scraps in green, gold, orange, red, and purple. If you love foundation paper piecing or have always wanted to try the technique, this beginner-level FPP project is perfect.

Scrappy Acorn Quilt Block

Scrappy Acorn Quilt Block

Sew Mariana’s Scrappy Acorn Quilt Block is another project for using up fabric scraps. It calls for twenty-eight 1 ¾” x 1 ¾” squares, as well as one fat quarter and scrap for the acorn’s base. Don’t forget to check out our Fat Quarter bundles if you need to stock up on supplies!

Turkey Placemat with Pockets

Quilted turkey placemat with feathers as pockets holding table utensils

She Wears Flowers’ Turkey Placemat with Pockets is an adorable way to dress up your Thanksgiving table. Another fabric scrap project, we love how the feathers double as pockets to hold utensils and napkins. This is so cute for kids and adults—and you might actually get kids to help you set the table. Tell them it’s their turn to “stuff the turkey”!

Heat n Bond EZ Print Scrap Pumpkin Table Runner

Heat n Bond EZ Print Scrap Pumpkin Table Runner

The fall season is not complete without a pumpkin table runner. There are so many options out there, but we love that this Scrappy Pumpkin Table Runner uses scraps and even has a no-sew option if you want to add just a bit of pumpkin decor to your home.

This Quilted Pumpkin Table Runner from Baby Lock is a quick and easy beginner-level project that can be finished in one weekend. You can find step by step instructions from designer Mary Go Round Quilts here

Boo to You Quilt

Boo to You Quilt

Fort Worth Fabric Studio’s Boo to You Quilt is a classic quilt block design with 4-patch blocks, flying geese, pumpkin squares and a spooky star block in the center. We think this quilt would look great with a mix of our Halloween and Fall fabrics!

Yo-Yo + No-Sew Pumpkins

Yo-Yo and No-Sew Pumpkin Decorations in shades of orange and gold made from scrap fabrics

These pumpkins from Quilting Digest are a very sweet and easy way to dress up a holiday table or mantel. Both use fabric scraps, and while the Yo-Yo Pumpkins (above left) require a bit of sewing, the No-Sew Pumpkins (above right), as their name suggests, require no sewing at all.

We hope these projects have inspired you to craft up something fun for autumn. Remember to check out our selection of kits for more fun options this season!
